Global Business and Economics Review (GBER), Vol. 20, No. 5/6, 2018

Abstract: This is a conceptual paper, based on a literature review. The contribution of this paper consists of providing a methodology for measuring the efficiency of the diffusion of innovation in the supply chain. Based on an analysis of existing literature, a new original methodology, including a measurement matrix and a synthetic indicator, has been developed. Research based on the proposed methodology has not been done yet. However, it is hoped that the paper will stimulate a scientific debate on two questions: firstly, whether the availability of a common methodology may ensure the comparability of data within an industry, as well as between industries, taking into account their distinguishing characteristics; and, secondly, on whether the above data will prove useful in the development of a set of best practices for the diffusion of innovation in the supply chain. The proposed model needs to be applied in practice, since this is the only way to test its usefulness.
