Abstract: A conceptual understanding of how students learn and what motivates them to choose a specific approach to learning have been of interest to all educators. A number of instruments that measure students' learning styles and orientations, study preferences and ways of knowing exist in the literature. This study explored the reliability and validity of the questionnaire that measures study process of students. The original version of revised two-factor study process questionnaire (R-SPQ-2F) (Biggs et al., 2001) was adapted and translated into Arabic and administered to students in a tertiary institution in the United Arab Emirates. The analysis showed that the Arabic version of the questionnaire was valid and reliable for students in the UAE. The results suggest that two factors, deep and surface processes are meaningful in this context and the adapted R-SPQ-2F can confidently be used in Arabic speaking countries. Further studies are suggested to be conducted with larger samples.
