Abstract: Recently, the reduction in emission of greenhouse gases and destructive effects on environment has become an important issue. In addition, since an organisation's existence relies upon its ability to compete with other companies, they must take into consideration green criteria, as well. Therefore, organisations need to look for the suppliers that cover green criteria plus other criteria for the sake of outsourcing their processes. This research presents a novel two-stage supply chain approach based on fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) and mathematical programming. In the first stage, this approach makes use of a supportive system based on FAHP in order to perform the primary evaluation on the verification of suppliers. Then, the suppliers with the least required scores in this evaluation enter the second stage. In the second stage, the optimal amount order to each supplier and the optimal route to each supplier are determined. The proposed approach has been implemented in a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) production company in Iran in order to investigate its effectiveness. The achieved results represent the effectiveness of the proposed model.
