International Journal of Global Energy Issues (IJGEI), Vol. 16, No. 1/2/3, 2001

Abstract: The paper considers the current situation in the Slovak energy economy, its development since 1990 and future outlook (primary energy and its structure, final energy consumption, energy intensity etc.) Energy carrier prices, their development since 1990 and expected progress are also considered, as are Slovak energy management and its environmental issues (emissions of SO2 NXx, dust, CO2, etc., international obligations concerning SO2 and GHG and their fulfilment). Energy conservation, its possible volume in the future and energy conservation stimulation are both studied. We discuss international cooperation between Slovakia and other transforming countries as well as developed countries, and its expected entry into the European Union from the energy management point of view.
