Leader's qualities and organisational performance: a case of Malaysian Takaful operator

Abstract: This study examines the factors of enhancing Takaful organisational performance from qualities of Islamic leaders' perspectives. This study begins with the introduction and overview of Takaful industry. We focus into four dimensions of Islamic leaders' qualities, which consisted of truthfulness, trust, knowledge, and communication in the leader's practices. We found that the Takaful operator is being proactively in achieving their vision by centre of attentions on the Islamic leaders' qualities. Specifically, the Takaful operator considered values as important elements that support Islamic leaders' qualities to achieve the organisational goals. The Takaful operator measured both financial performance and non-financial performance in their key performance indicators. This study implies that qualities of Islamic leaders can be effectively practiced in the corporate setting, which may leverage to the higher performance of organisation achievement.
