Increasing the permeability of Jincheng anthracite coal by NaClO solution

Abstract: Sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) solution is effective for oxidising and dissolving coal. When NaClO solution is sent into the coal reservoir fractures, the expectation is that the fractures and pores of coal are enlarged by the oxidation and dissolution actions of the NaClO solution, thereby increasing the permeability of coal. To study this process, we measured and analysed the permeability improvement of Jincheng anthracite coal via the oxidation and dissolution test using NaClO solution, and we reached the following conclusions. The permeability of the coal sample increased when it was soaked in NaClO solution and subsequently dried. The permeability increment rate for raw coal is greater relative to a coal briquette. Furthermore, the permeability of a coal sample soaked in NaClO solution decreased with an increase in the moisture content of the coal sample. [Received: December 7, 2016; Accepted: August 10, 2017]
