Abstract: On the basis of drum surface theory fitting dual-curvature glass, an optimisation method for the window glass of vehicle was proposed. The best drum axis position and its corresponding drum surface were calculated according to knowledge-based engineering (KBE) combined with gradient algorithm. The optimised drum surface was applied to obtain the guide curve for window regulator and simulate the movement of dual-curvature glass along regulator rail. The movement deviation for the optimised glass surface was controlled within 0.5 mm, which proved that the optimised method could reach the requirements of design precision for dual-curvature glass.
