Abstract: Aiming at the problems of underdeveloped information technology and low penetration rate of wireless communication technology and automatic control system in open-pit mines, this paper studied the communication technology and protocol for the vehicle communication of open-pit mines. Based on the wireless GPRS/4G cellular network, the study established the basic network framework of the system, and designed the key communication technologies and suitable wireless communication protocol, including network hierarchical model, network protocol, message transmission rules, and message structure. The vehicle management and monitoring information system was developed based on the component-based development technology. Thus, the general communication mode and packet flow transaction were established. The application shows that the designed system can meet the requirements of vehicle data transmission. Vehicles on the road can be monitored, scheduled, and managed much more efficiently than ever before.
