Abstract: Entrepreneurial orientation reflects a managerial capability by which firms embark on proactive and aggressive initiatives to alter the competitive scene to their advantage. Although structure, leadership and control have influences on levels of entrepreneurship within the firm, few studies investigate the antecedents of entrepreneurial orientation from both strategic and proclivity dimensions. In this study, entrepreneurial orientation is treated as a second-order formative construct based on Lumpkin and Dess' viewpoints. The findings show that learning orientation from the strategic dimension and entrepreneurial resources from the proclivity dimension have influences on entrepreneurial orientation of technological entrepreneurs. This study also confirms the interrelationships among entrepreneurial orientation, breakthrough innovation and new product development performance.
