Abstract: Job seekers in social enterprise industry look for fair and honest human resource policy compatible with companies' espoused social values. The notion of realistic job preview (RJP) providing realistic job-related information to social enterprise applicants meets this moral standard. One shortcoming of revealing the full reality of the job at the recruiting stage is that this might decrease applicants' job attractiveness. An unfavourable message contained in RJP, however, does not always have a negative impact on job attractiveness because applicants' expectations can perform a mitigating role on the interpretation of the RJP message. The current study tries to conceptually tease out when it is really negative to job attractiveness to provide RJP. Implications and research direction on social enterprises were discussed.
