Abstract: Reduction of abnormal interior sound is of great significance for improving the acoustic performance and riding comfort of a vehicle. For a multiple-input single-output (MISO) system, if inputs are correlated, the cause of a problem might not be correctly detected. In this case, a transfer path analysis (TPA) method based on Hilbert transform (HT) approach can be used for severity ranking between every two input signals, to find out the major contributor and transfer direction. This paper chooses a case study of abnormal interior sound from a sport utility vehicle when the heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system is working. And the method above is applied with four correlated inputs. Practical analysis results illustrate that the compressor pressure low (PL) has the highest severity level over other inputs. After applying improvements, the interior noise decreases by 7-10 dB(A) at observation frequency and the abnormal sound problem is nearly solved.
