Abstract: In this paper, we propose a closing strategy when the compensation capacitor and system voltage come to the peak voltage, the method of capacitor banks synchronous closing sequence is analysed, and the shortest delay time to switch closing in optimal phase is given. In order to improve the breaker synchronous closing precision, the adaptive digital AC voltage zero crossing detection is adopted to acquire the zero point of the reference signal, and the method of multi-element liner regression is handled to dynamic predict the breaker operating time and trend. Theoretical analysis and simulation result show that the transient overvoltage and inrush current when closing capacitor banks at peak voltage are decreased effectively, which offers the basis of theory and software algorithms for the development of a synchronous switching control system of compensation capacitor.
