Abstract: Flooding is one of the major data dissemination schemes to broadcast packets in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). In basic flooding, there are too many redundancies in the network, which consume much energy. Consequently, it is inherently weak in load balancing. In this paper we propose a load-balanced packet broadcast scheme that explores flooding based on neighbour information, namely neighbour-based load-balanced packet dissemination (NLPD). In NLPD, the nodes receiving the packets decide whether to rebroadcast the packet based on neighbours' information. We get suitable value for the threshold through simulations.
