Assessing eco-efficiency and its influential factors based on capital-intensive and labour-intensive perspective

Abstract: This paper uses super-efficiency data envelope analysis model to the assessment of eco-efficiency and employs the Heckman's two-stage method and quantile regression analysis approach investigating the determinants of eco-efficiency between capital-intensive companies and labour-intensive ones in Xinjiang province in 2012. The results show that technological progress is the main factor affecting the eco-efficiency. In addition, the ecological culture, environmental regulation, regional characteristics, and government subsidies have different degrees of impact on eco-efficiency. These findings might help policymakers design strategies to improve the performance of chemical companies manufacture and are applied to propose relevant suggestions to improve eco-efficiency in different provinces of China.
