Abstract: This study was prompted by the need to examine the significance of age management within organisational frameworks. Ageing is often understood as a societal question (for example, arise on health costs) and on the other hand, ageing is an individual issue (attitudes). From the organisational point of view, it is a question of availability of good people. The research method is conceptual research. Organisational research often takes the form of applied research. For that reason, conceptual approach provides an opportunity to widen the understanding of age management issues. The Finnish National Program on Ageing Workers 1998-2002 serves as a background for the study. In addition to providing essential data, the National Program was the first to introduce the concept of age management. The focus of this article is on age management and its various definitions and interpretations. The article approaches age management by identifying 'age' and 'ageing'. It also discusses the relationship between 'age' and 'management'. Age management is used in a wide variety of meanings. Therefore, it proved necessary to take a closer look at the relationship between age and management.
