Examination of the planar frame-row for commercial vehicle preliminary design

International Journal of Vehicle Design (IJVD), Vol. 70, No. 4, 2016

Abstract: In this paper, planar frame-row structures subject to general load are introduced. A general load can be decomposed into planar and perpendicular components. Different internal unit loads are applied for examining two components. The analysis of planar-frame structures can be supported by one or more symmetry planes. The frame-row is examined from structure symmetry and load point of view, whether it suits the reduction of the number of the unknowns in the compatibility equations. The main purpose of this paper is to introduce the reduction process in case of longitudinal and lateral symmetry planes of the frame-row structure.
