Abstract: This study endeavours to explore the leadership styles deployed in print media in Pakistan. The study has been planned to find out the relationship between the leadership styles and employee job satisfaction, and to observe the mediating effect of employee empowerment. The two leadership styles used in this study are transformational leadership style and transactional leadership style. This study was conducted in top five print media offices of Rawalpindi and Islamabad cities of Pakistan. A final sample of 240 respondents was used for final analysis using a self-administered questionnaire. Statistical techniques of correlation and regression analysis were used to test the hypotheses. The findings show that both leadership styles are positively related to employee job satisfaction. Similarly, employee empowerment is positively related to employee job satisfaction. Lastly, it was found that the employee empowerment has mediating effect in building relationship between leadership style and job satisfaction. This research has implications for researchers and practitioners.
