Abstract: To improve the efficiency of deploying and calling of home services, this paper proposes a distributed service-oriented architecture (D-SOA) for a smart-home system. In this proposed D-SOA, a distributed bundle is designed for remote deploying of bundles and remote calling of services with open services gateway initiative (OSGi) architecture. Peer-to-peer (P2P) technology is adopted to improve communication efficiency between terminals of a smart-home system. A specific interaction mechanism is designed to transmit data, using the hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) and the extensible markup language (XML). Performance analysis shows that the proposed D-SOA achieves up to 37.5% reduction in network load, and 65% improvement in response time, compared to service central system architectures.
