Abstract: Information interpretation obstacles greatly threaten the usability of manufacturing enterprise information system. In this paper, classification of information is proposed to improve the understandability of information about product life cycle and enterprise management. Based on the concept of module, obstacles of information interpretation were described at both homogeneous and heterogeneous levels. To solve these obstacles arising out of system integration, a method of information interpretation-oriented integration interface was proposed. After information contents in modules and their relationships are defined, the proposed interface will extract data from the existing modules, and enable users to easily understand data relationship of different modules. The interface is highly extendable and helpful for developers of information systems and interface designers to overcome interpretation obstacles.
