Abstract: According to ecological security status and major ecological problems in coal mines, the study chose 17 characteristic special indicators to build the index system of ecological security evaluation based on the pressure-state-response (P-S-R) model. This paper applies structural equation model, uses data collected from two coal mines in Chibi, Hubei, China, and calculates the weight relationship among 17 indices from three categories of ecological security pressure, status and response so that the final evaluative index system can be determined. The research results prove that the factors that have the biggest impact on ecological security pressure, status and response are respectively industrial waste load pressure, water (source) pollution index and per capita industrial output. In addition, in terms of their impact on the other two latent variables, pressure has the largest impact.
