Abstract: In this paper, numerical analysis of a hydrodynamic clutch with electrorheological fluid as a working fluid is presented. The main goal of the performed calculations was to determine the relation of electrorheological fluid viscosity changes, caused by applying electric field, to torque carried through the hydrodynamic clutch. Based on the obtained results it can be concluded that viscosity changes of working fluid create not only change of flow intensity but also change of average line location. Both of these parameters have influence on rotational torque magnitude carried by the hydrodynamic clutch.
