Understanding construction supply chain management for road projects

Abstract: An efficient construction supply chain management for road projects is critical for ever increasing demand for passenger and freight movement; nevertheless they are considered suffering from insufficient capacity leading to time and cost overruns, related disputes and lower quality. In order to improve supply chain performance of the road project, the investment climate should be strengthened for operational issues, pre-construction activities, contract management, dispute resolution, and institutional structure of road agencies. This paper is an attempt to make some critical perspectives relating to construction supply chain for road projects. It provides a direction to integrate the varied perspectives of supply chain management of road construction projects to be validated using qualitative approach of triangulation involving foundational research and soft systems methodology.
