Modelling green IT adoption among SME

Abstract: Green information technology (IT) allows resources used in a sustainable manners, both in the area of climate protection and resource efficiency. In this study, the authors examined the factors that potentially influence the adoption of green IT among small and medium enterprises (SME). There six factors studied include green organisational identity, environmental organisation legitimacy, green innovation performance, public concern, differentiation and cost reduction. Based on smart partial least square approach, the results showed that green organisational identity, green innovation performance and cost reduction have significantly impacted SME in adopting green IT practices. This study provides new insights into the area of green IT, specifically from the perspective of SME in their sustainable strategic planning for short and long-term values.
