Design and loading parameter optimisation in deep drawing process

International Journal of Vehicle Design (IJVD), Vol. 39, No. 1/2, 2005

Abstract: This paper presents firstly a complete analysis, by a differential finite method, of the deep-drawing of a cylindrical cup. The program used includes an accurate description of the material plasticity compared to the Hill quadratic function using a Budiansky yield surface. A coupling of this numerical program with an identification code for a design optimisation represents the principal aim of this paper. By optimum design, it is meant that all specified requirements are met, but with a minimum expense of certain factors such as material thickness, stress and strain distribution. Interesting results concerning in particular the thickening distribution in the rim region have been found in this work.
