Abstract: This paper discusses a hybrid multi-level inverter based shunt active filter intended to eradicate the current harmonics on the load side. The proposed shunt active filter utilises instantaneous p-q theory for reference signal generation and triangular periodic controller for switching pulse generation. The main objective is to mitigate the current harmonics under nonlinear balanced and unbalanced load condition. The simulation studies are carried out using MATLAB/Simulink to validate the dynamic behaviour of shunt active filter during voltage and current perturbations.
