Abstract: Detection of T wave Alternans (TWA), a risk stratification parameter for sudden cardiac death, is a continuously evolving research area. Most of the current detection approaches are single-lead approaches. This gives lead-dependent results and the alternans magnitude is either overestimated or underestimated. In this paper, a multi-lead PCA approach is suggested to improve the performance of existing single-lead methods. An implementation is carried out using the Poincaré mapping method on 30 records of the TWA challenge database. Single-lead vs. multi-lead results are studied. An improved performance of the proposed approach, in both qualitative and quantitative aspect, is observed when compared to all single leads under analysis. A detection rate of 70% and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 14% are obtained for the multi-lead approach. The results are also compared with the standard MMA method, showing significant correlation of 0.96% between the two.
