Abstract: Business processes should be aligned to the corporate strategy and relevant BPM decisions should be made in accordance with strategic objectives. However, there is still no established standard notation for explicitly designing strategic targets in process models. While middle and lower managers need an approach which helps to decide on corrective actions to fulfil business needs, top managers require a systematic approach to control strategic targets based on process instances. This paper proposes an approach on how strategies and business objectives can be integrated in business process models. The described notation of a strategy process matrix is then used to create an enterprise-wide control system for stakeholders on different hierarchical levels of an organisation. The added value of the system is outlined in a field test in a German manufacturing company.
