Abstract: Multi-agent systems (MAS) are becoming more and more relevant to model and simulate complex distributed systems. This increasing interest in MAS is due to their ability to model autonomy, interaction, cooperation, intelligence, reactivity, and organisational aspects in an explicit manner. In this context we present our agent-based approach for automotive distributed embedded systems modelling and simulation. As a case study, we have targeted the FlexRay protocol basic services such as the startup, the wakeup, the clock synchronisation and media access control services in the static and dynamic segments. Our proposed architecture is modelled as a multi-agent system and implemented in the JADE platform following mainly the so-called O-MaSE methodology. Using JADE, We developed an ontology that provides an automatic interpretation of frame fields.
