The significance of lift forces in intensely stirred bubble plumes
by Jan Erik Olsen; Mihaela Popescu
Progress in Computational Fluid Dynamics, An International Journal (PCFD), Vol. 15, No. 2, 2015

Abstract: A preceding study concluded that the lift force in dense bubble plumes in mixing vessels had no influence on the flow. Since the lift force is generally assumed to be of importance, a new study has been conducted in order to shed more light on the issue. It is found that the lift force seems to be insignificant, but there is some uncertainty in the conclusion.
