Design and simulation of a low voltage, low power OTA-based filter for biomedical signal recognition

Abstract: Operational transconductance-based filter is very helpful for biomedical applications, so it is very important that it should consume low power and low voltage. In this paper, we have designed a tunable fourth-order continuous-time filter. Further higher order filter is achieved by cascading the single structure. This filter can handle input signals up to 400 mV with a total harmonic distortion (THD = 52.8 dB) at 1 V supply voltage and the total power consumption is 4.5 µW. The 4th order filter is designed with the biquad structure. We have used 180 nm CMOS technology from TSMC library for designing of this complete system. A comparison with existing structures shows a better performance by the proposed design.
