Evaluating efficiency of Rashtriya Swasthaya Bima Yojana using systems approach

Abstract: Rashtriya Swasthaya Bima Yojana (RSBY) is a health insurance scheme for poor people of India especially below poverty line (BPL), launched by Ministry of Labour and Employment (India). The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the relative efficiency of the scheme in the enrolled districts of Uttar Pradesh using systems approach. Firstly, districts were divided into three groups on the basis of Euclidean distance and then the systems approach was applied using Bankers, Charnes and Cooper (BCC) model of data envelopment analysis (DEA).
