Abstract: The present study deals with the slurry erosion and corrosion behaviour of HVOF sprayed titania coatings on mild steel (MS) substrate. The coatings were developed on the MS substrate by optimising the HVOF process parameters. The obtained coatings were subjected to SEM studies, hardness, salt spray and slurry erosion tests. The uniformity and smoothness of developed coatings were justified by SEM studies. The developed coatings exhibited excellent hardness, which is mainly attributed to the dominant rutile phase found in the procured TiO2 powder. Further, coated mild steel substrate showed excellent corrosion resistance in salt spray tests compared to uncoated mild steel substrate. The coated mild steel substrates showed very good resistance against slurry erosion under varying test conditions.
