International Journal of Computational Intelligence Studies (IJCISTUDIES), Vol. 3, No. 4, 2014

Abstract: Research in iris image compression was triggered by its wide application in biometric recognition system. Iris has become one of the three biometric identification technologies (other than fingerprint and face recognition) internationally standardised by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for use in future passports. In this paper, a novel approach has been proposed for compressing iris images and its performance has been found to outclass standard compression algorithms.
