Abstract: Cost reduction without compromising on quality has become the motto of every manufacturing organisation, to survive in the global market. In the manufacturing industry, product quality has become a key factor in determining a firm's success or a failure in a global market place. The product quality and attributes increasingly depend upon the organisation's competencies regarding an effort made for improving productivity in all spheres of activities by utilising the resources like machinery, men, and material as optimally as possible. The quality requirements is the forcing factor behind the use of tools such as total quality management (TQM) and total productive maintenance (TPM), effectively to get higher achievements in business performance. This empirical research use analytical hierarchy process to evaluate the critical success factors for TQM-TPM paradigms, in the environment of uncertainty. The study decision criteria include transfusion of TQM-TPM, whereas the manufacturing excellence indicators are productivity, employee competency, quality, cost, flexibility and delivery, employee safety and moral. This paper presents a framework that employs the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) for justification of synergistic TQM-TPM implementation in manufacturing organisations.
