An empirical-relational investigation on supply chain responsiveness

Abstract: Various supply chain capabilities like SC agility, SC resilience, etc., encompasses a key factor in their conceptualisation, i.e., to respond to customer demand or environmental changes. So, SC responsiveness is relevant in current context. Developing supply chain responsiveness in a global supply chain mandates presence of several relational attributes. Based on resource-based view (RBV), dynamic capability and relational view theories, the study empirically explores trust, commitment, communication, cooperation and coordination as relational resources in developing supply chain responsiveness. The study also considered the moderating role of environmental uncertainty on these relationships. The findings based on a web-based survey of 141 supply chain professionals largely support our proposed relationships.
