International Journal of Mining and Mineral Engineering (IJMME), Vol. 5, No. 3, 2014

Abstract:

Authors of the above article requested the publisher withdraw this article from the record once they discovered a critical technical error. A copy of the message received from author(s) is shown below:

The "deformation error ellipsoid method" proposed in the paper was claimed to be more reliable than traditional methods. This major claim, however, was recently found to be false or unjustifiable: using the data at different time periods from station "Yallourn" can yield completely different significant results. This is mainly because the method fails to consider the effect of open-pit operations near the station. Therefore, the results used to justify the method are not reliable and there is no merit in using the proposed "deformation error ellipsoid method".

The publisher granted the request.
