Energy from waste
by Maury Saddy
International Journal of Global Energy Issues (IJGEI), Vol. 3, No. 4, 1991

Abstract: This paper presents some examples of how to reconcile conflicting economic, social and environmental demands using the development and implementation of advanced technology systems. The examples are drawn from Brazil, a developing country with a broad industrial base. The paper describes Brazil's experience in exploiting oil shale as an industrial fuel, in the use of fluidised-bed combustion, and the incineration of industrial wastes.
