Electricity consumption of household appliances in the former Soviet Union: potential for energy conservation

Abstract: The paper deals with electricity consumption for household appliances in the former USSR. It summarized the findings of investigations aimed at determining prospects for the country's energy sector. To identify potential energy savings, comparisons have been made with the consumption in developed countries. Possible ways to overcome the existing situation have been recommended.
