Abstract: The author offers an approach to energy demand forecasting applicable to transition periods like that currently experienced in the former USSR or in other East European reform countries. Starting from the 90th structure of the USSR's final energy consumption the paper presents a discussion of the changed energy demand structure, attainable within the region of the former USSR in the period 2000/2005.
