Cogeneration in the Netherlands: policy, developments and the future

Abstract: In 1988 the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs introduced a new programme for stimulating cogeneration. One of the actions was the creation of a promotion organisation in the market which functions as an intermediary between the parties involved in cogeneration projects. This article describes the arguments why there is no alternative to cogeneration. It will give you the definition of cogeneration. It describes the climate in which cogeneration can grow. It gives an overview of the cogeneration policy of the Dutch Government and a review of the market for cogeneration. It will give you an indication of future prospects and obstacles.
