European energy policy in a global context
by Rolf Linkohr
International Journal of Global Energy Issues (IJGEI), Vol. 8, No. 1/2/3, 1995

Abstract: Since the shock of Chernobyl in 1988, the real world has developed differently than we expected. 'Too bad for reality', one might say cynically. But for policy making, that is not enough. That is why I am pleading in favour of reopening the debate of the nuclear issue - even if some may think it to be Pandora's box. To European energy policy, this would mean that we treat nuclear energy like other forms of energy and that we decide on a case-by-case basis which forms of energy production should be promoted or slowed down. The energy discussion should be ridded of taboos.
