by Naji Abi-Aad
International Journal of Global Energy Issues (IJGEI), Vol. 10, No. 1, 1998

Abstract: This paper, which was written in June 1996, considers the effects of nationalisation on foreign oil participation in the Gulf, with the exception of the United Arab Emirates and considers commercial issues, sovereign autonomy and long-term implications of how participation deals would affect crude marketing strategies. It then goes on to review recent developments in individual Gulf countries, and suggests future likely developments.
