Search space reduction and model configuration - an expert systems approach

International Journal of Computer Applications in Technology (IJCAT), Vol. 3, No. 1, 1990

Abstract: The present research focuses on the problems of large search spaces and inadequate representation of the user's world view while using model based paradigms for problem solving. A framework to address these problems by integrating expert systems and simulation systems in a comprehensive decision support environment is suggested. The proposed framework is applied to an example from the domain of file-processing. A prototype to counter search space problems in this domain has been developed. Grounds for future research to enable integration of expert systems and simulation systems to provide for intelligent simulation support systems are identified.
