Challenges for electronic data interchange in becoming a global competitive tool

Abstract: Lately, managers have been waving the flag about electronic data interchange (EDI) as a 'strategic weapon' in global competition. It is an innovative tool useful for accurate and timely interchange of business information. The major focus of EDI is 'business' related, not technology related. In this paper, these 'business' related issues, their complexity and challenges for harmonisation in the global business context are discussed.
