Abstract: Little is known about how system developers view systems problems and failures because prior studies have either focused on end-users' or managers' views. The present questionnaire study of 244 system developers, examines how system developers evaluate system development issues, system use issues, and reasons for system failures. It finds substantial agreement among system developers on the most and least important system development and system use issues, and on the reasons for system failures in spite of differences in background and personal characteristics.
