Abstract: This work presents an approach for dimensional optimal design of an eight-bar anti-dive front suspension for scooters. Static force analysis is carried out to obtain leverage-ratio curve. Then, dynamic analysis during braking for the front suspension is derived, and anti-dive effect curve is defined according to the principle of virtual work. Based on the dimensionlesslisation of objective curves, multi-objective function optimal design is carried out. An example is given to illustrate the application of this technique. As a result, the proposed eight-bar mechanism has better performances than the existing TLAD mechanism.
