IDI diesel noise reduction with heated inlet air
by C.R. Stone, E.K.M. Kwan
International Journal of Vehicle Design (IJVD), Vol. 14, No. 2/3, 1993

Abstract: This paper discusses the source of combustion noise in an indirect injection diesel engine, and how it can be reduced through the use of healed inlet air. Data are also presented that show the relation between ignition delay and sound level. Correlations for ignition delay are discussed, and results are presented that show a slight modification to the Watson correlation.
