International Journal of Vehicle Design (IJVD), Vol. 12, No. 3, 1991

Abstract: This paper reports the main findings of research carried out in the area of supplier commercial assessment and rating. In the development of such a system, there are four main issues which need to be considered: (i) the assessment criteria; (ii) the structure of the assessment; (iii) the scoring of the assessment and (iv) the feedback of information to suppliers. Drawing on research carried out in a supplier to the automotive industries, the paper examines each of the four main issues.
