Winning with technology and teamwork: the promise of US industry
by L.A. Bossidy
International Journal of Vehicle Design (IJVD), Vol. 13, No. 3, 1992

Abstract: This is an edited version of a keynote address given by the author to the Society of Automotive Engineers on February 24, 1992, in the home of the US car industry - Detroit. In an upbeat address, he identifies a number of changes in US industry over the past decade: improved output, teamwork, overhaul of management structures and reduced labour costs have all led to a marked expansion of US exports. This contrasts strongly with the pessimistic view of the US currently projected by the media and reflected in the political arena. After reviewing America's achievements over the past 50 years, he concludes his address on an optimistic note for the future of US industry.
