Abstract: The single-occupant Nexus vehicle design represents a major step forward in the reduction of fuel requirements for safe, personal commuting. Passenger car safety standards applicable to enclosed three-wheeled vehicles are incorporated in this design sponsored by Transport Canada. Fuel efficiency of 1.61/100 km are attainable with a conventional 250cc powertrain, a low vehicle mass (40 kg), and the unique aerodynamic characteristics of the first Nexus prototype. Good acceleration, stable handling, and a top speed of 140 km/h proffer further optimisation and widespread adaptation of Nexus-type vehicles by industry.
